xmake is freeware.

version 1.11:

+ 'copy_to' targets now support the $(auto) tag
+ mostly windows only: in case of an ar or ranlib error xmake will now attempt to rebuild a library (.a) twice before giving up

+ option '--more' now prints out 16 errors/warnings instead of just 10
+ added automatic newline warning suppression

+ added config options "gcc_options" and "gpp_options" to control gcc and g++ more specifically

+ smarter obsolete link hint removal. outdated readonly link maps generate warnings.

+ profile default.xcp files may specify 'readonly = true' to make the local profile readonly.
